It never fails because each year there is at least one toy that is so popular it can’t be found any store shelves. Right now you might be having visions of the Wii console, the Tickle Me Elmo, and so forth. If your child has one of this year’s Hot Christmas Toys on their list, what should you do?

Start Christmas Shopping Early: Whether it be reading the paper, seeing signs of empty shelves in advance, or constantly hearing your child point out that “that toy” is the must-have toy of year, you will usually get some idea of this years best sellers. In that case, it is time to act now. It really doesn’t matter where you do your shopping in the middle of July because you are saving money and avoiding hassle later down the road. Moreover, don’t make the mistake of assuming that retailers will increase production for the holidays, because most don’t.

Do Your Christmas Shopping Online: When it comes to the best sellers of the year, you should have the best luck shopping online. For starters, there are thousands of retailers all within a fingertip’s reach. The good news is that you can do all your shopping without wasting time or money. If a retailer has the Zhu Zhu Pets out of stock, just try another one! Moreover, many online retailers let you setup email alerts to be notified when an out-of-stock product is available online.

Visit eBay.com and Craigslist.org: These two websites are very popular and you can usually find all the hot Christmas toys of this year. The problem comes from the fact that you will likely pay an arm and a leg. See the people selling these toys aren’t doing so out of the kindness of their heart; they are doing so to make money. See, when you were at work making money, these people stood in line or did an online pre-order. They wait until parents are desperate and then try to resell the toy in question on eBay or Craigslist for double or even triple the average retail price.

Consider Pushing Back to Another Holiday: Of course you want to get your child their one favorite toy for Christmas, but sometimes doing so is just impossible. If you can, start dropping hints especially if that gift would come from “Santa.” You could say something along the lines of “that is neat, maybe you will get it for your birthday, Easter, or so forth.” You may only want to use this approach as a last resort, but you might be surprised. Those hot Christmas toys will appear on the shelves after Christmas just as quick as they flew off the shelves.

So there you have it: a few ways to get your hands on this year’s hottest Christmas toys. One of the best Christmas toys of 2009 is the Hasbro FurReal Friends Smores Pony. If you act quick, maybe you can get one for your son or daughter. Good luck.
